The probability of heavy rain events continues to increase in Central Europe. As in the Ahr Valley in 2021, these can lead to a large number of deaths and immense material damage without warning. In most cases, these events affect smaller rivers and streams that are not recorded by the existing electronic level measurements on larger bodies of water.

For reliable flood warnings as early as possible, the levels of relevant bodies of water are recorded by cost-effective sensors and an automatic warning chain is triggered for the affected areas if the specified limit values are exceeded.
