As part of our work on future-oriented solutions for smart cities and smart regions, we have recently published two new white papers that offer exciting insights into current topics:

Cybersecurity in German smart cities

In the “safe hAAven 5G++” project, the ZDE evaluation team developed a survey aimed at those responsible in municipalities and inter-municipal cooperations. The aim was to better understand the handling of data security and data protection in smart city projects and to derive a status quo. The results provide an overview of precisely this, highlighting the challenges and development potential of IT security issues in German smart cities. This white paper is a valuable tool for anyone who wants to strengthen cyber security in their projects.

IoT real-world labs: concepts and potentials

Our second white paper sheds light on how exactly real-world laboratories, living labs and citizen workshops can support the implementation of smart city projects. Special attention is paid to the Finnish “Agile Piloting” approach, which enables fast and flexible innovation processes and can thus give smart city implementation an additional push. The white paper also describes how a simple introduction to IoT topics contributes to the successful technical implementation of smart cities and smart regions.

It is available in both German and English.

Both whitepapers are available on the ZDE Academy website:
