EU project PilotInnCities launches open calls

The project partners in the project are launching their Open Calls in five partner countries of the Danube region

An open call is a publicly distributed call for proposals or applications for specific project approaches. This call usually includes requirements and criteria for participation and seeks input from a broad and diverse defined audience. Open calls are a valuable tool for fostering innovation and collaboration, both in the public and private sectors. With their simplicity, they can meaningfully enrich the complicated procurement landscape and thus represent a good addition to the development of an ecosystem.

Open Calls provide a powerful way for organizations to:

  • Expand diversity and perspectives: By opening up the call to a wide audience, organizations gain access to a wider range of skills, ideas, and approaches.
  • Promote creative solutions: The open nature of the call encourages participants to think outside the traditional methods and submit innovative solutions.
  • Build trust and credibility: Clearly defined parameters and a transparent selection process assure participants of a fair and objective evaluation
We combine all these qualities with agile pilots in the project.

Who can apply for our Open Call in general?

Start-ups and small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that:

  • have an innovative smart city solution with an appropriate level of implementation for pilot deployment.
  • less than 250 employees and an annual turnover of up to EUR 50 million.
  • the ability and ambition to evolve their solution beyond the pilot.

Who is not allowed to apply: Non-companies, such as associations, initiatives, municipalities, universities or innovation centres.

Your solution can target one of the following six smart city dimensions:

  1. Digital services, data and communication
  2. Energy efficiency
  3. Shared and green mobility
  4. Circular economy
  5. Blue-green infrastructure
  6. Health and well-being
