SMART CITY CAMPUS5G mobile communications out of the lighting system
5G, the fifth generation of mobile communications, is currently developing into a powerful key technology and a global standard that, in combination with fiber optics, will form the infrastructural backbone for all data applications in the future.
For the first time, a complete 5G unit has been installed in a smart lighting on our campus. This elegant integration enables an efficient 5G rollout without the additional creation of expensive carrier infrastructure.
This makes smart solutions for industry and urban areas quick and financially attractive and creates additional value creation opportunities for municipal companies and municipal utilities, among others.
This modular lighting system is equipped with a so-called 5G “pico Radiohead” – the combination of a 5G transmitter and receiver unit with a suitably tuned antenna in a particularly compact design.
The unit is connected to the network node via a fiber optic cable that leads from the lamp post into our building.
